Hello! My name is Brian Llinás, and I am currently a Ph.D. student in the Web Science and Digital Libraries (WS-DL) research group at Old Dominion University (ODU), started in Spring 2023. I am under the supervision of Dr. Michael Nelson and have a background in Industrial Engineering from Universidad del Norte, Barranquilla, Colombia.

Over the past years, I have been involved in research projects focused on:

  • Operation Research
  • Humanitarian Logistics
  • Simulation & Transportation
  • Machine Learning

In my role as a Data Scientist, I have worked on extracting and analyzing large datasets, building machine learning models, and implementing data-driven decision-making systems. My research with SIMAS-UN and the Storymodelers Lab at VMASC has allowed me to explore computational insights into frustration in migrant communities.

📚 Research Focus

Areas of Interest:

  • Large Language Models (LLMs)
  • Natural Language Processing (NLP)
  • Machine Learning (ML)
  • Data Science

I am currently focused on developing regression models and exploring Named Entity Recognition (NER) and Large Language Models (LLMs).
